Outing
Updated 22 September 2026. Written by TripTap for this site.
A reservation briefing for a Saona boat day from the Punta Cana hotel strip: the blanks to fill in, the extras that get left off quotes, and the note to send before any money moves.
What you are reserving
You are reserving a boat day to Isla Saona, inside Cotubanamá National Park, not a car seat to a beach behind the hotel. The road portion, for almost everyone on the Bávaro and Cap Cana strips, ends at a dock. That dock is usually in Bayahíbe. The island part is a speedboat or a catamaran, then time on a beach, and often a stop on a shallow sandbar sellers call the natural pool.
TripTap does not operate the boat and we are not publishing a price for this outing. Nothing on this page is a quote. The background is in the Saona guide. This page is the note you send before you pay anyone, including us.
Time, transfer, and the shape of the day
Ask for a pickup time at your hotel and a time back at the same door. Do not accept “morning” and “afternoon.” From Bávaro, the drive to Bayahíbe is long enough that a late pickup misses the boat, and people often describe it as about an hour before traffic. We are not turning that into a schedule. If you are in Cap Cana or Uvero Alto, say so in the first sentence. The transfer is not the same ride as a central Bávaro lobby.
Ask which hull: speedboat or catamaran. If you get sick on small boats, the speedboat is the wrong day even when the beach is the right beach. Ask whether the sandbar stop is promised or whether it is the first thing dropped in wind. Ask whether Mano Juan, the community on the island, is on your landing or not. Most shared days are a beach landing, not a village walk.
Price: what we will not invent
There is no confirmed TripTap rate for this day on 22 September 2026. We could not read a partner price list for this site, and we will not type a dollar figure from another company’s page. A useful quote has a total per person and three labels: park fee included or extra, lunch included or extra, hotel pickup included or extra.
Drinks need their own sentence. An open bar that is beer and local rum is not the same as every drink on the boat. Photos are often a separate person on the beach with a card reader. Tips are not a secret second price, but you should ask if one is expected so you bring cash.
Send this before you pay
Copy this, fill the blanks, and send it to the seller and to hola@triptaplatam.com if you want TripTap to look at the reply. Do not send a card number in that email.
- Hotel name and zone (Bávaro, Cap Cana, or Uvero Alto): ____
- Date: ____. Number of people: ____
- Boat type, pickup time, meeting point, and time back at the hotel.
- Is the Cotubanamá park fee inside the total?
- Is lunch inside the total? What is the plate if we do not eat fish?
- Which drinks are inside the total?
- Is the natural-pool stop included, and what happens to the money if the sea cancels the landing?
- Total per person, in which currency, and what is extra at the beach.
What to avoid
Do not pay a lobby desk that will not name the boat and the hotel pickup as separate lines. Do not plan a dinner reservation on the same evening until the return time is written down. Do not leave passports in a day bag on the sand. Bring a hat, a long-sleeve shirt, and cash for anything the note marked as extra. Reef-safe sunscreen is the bottle to pack; the island is not a place to buy a replacement at hotel prices.
This page does not take a card. Card payment sits on a separate screen and is not offered here, because we do not have a confirmed amount to charge.
