Outing

A reservation briefing for a Macao buggy drive: shared or private, hotel pickup or a lot, deposit, surf at the public beach, and the note to send before you pay.
What you are reserving
You are reserving time on an open buggy with a guide, usually on dirt tracks north of the Bávaro hotels, often ending at Playa Macao. You are not reserving the hotel beach, and you are not reserving a calm swim. Macao is public. The surf is the reason people warn each other about it. If it looks rough when you arrive, the correct decision is to stay on the sand.
The Macao guide explains the beach and the gaps in a typical sales pitch. This page is the reservation note. TripTap is not the buggy operator. We do not publish a rate, a deposit, or a list of stops, because those belong to the company that hands over the key, and they are not one standard package.
Time and transfer
Ask where the buggy is parked. “Pickup included” might mean the guide meets you in the lobby, or it might mean a van to a lot, or it might mean you are expected to take a taxi to a pin on a map. Those are different costs. A Cap Cana hotel is not a central Bávaro lobby. Name the hotel.
Ask the length in hours and the latest time you are back. A two-hour loop that never sits on the beach is not the half-day people imagine from the photos. Ask whether you drive. Ask whether the buggy is manual. If you cannot drive a manual, say that in the first message, not at the lot.
Included, not included, and the deposit
Assume a line is excluded until the reply marks it included: fuel, helmet, guide, hotel pickup, lunch, drinks, photos, and the damage deposit. The deposit is the one that surprises people. Ask how much is held, whether it is cash, who signs for it, and when it comes back. Do not hand over cash without a receipt that has a company name.
Stops inland — a cenote, a small farm, a village — are not part of the word “Macao.” If you care about a stop, its name has to be in the reply. We are not listing a route, because copying one operator’s itinerary would be their product, not a fact about the beach.
Send this before you pay
Fill this in and send it to the seller. Copy hola@triptaplatam.com if you want a second pair of eyes. Do not include a card number.
- Hotel name and zone: ____. Date: ____. Adults who will drive: ____
- Do we drive, and is the buggy manual or automatic?
- One buggy for our group, or a shared convoy? Price per buggy and per person.
- Meeting point and time. Time back at the hotel.
- Helmet, fuel, and guide: included?
- Damage deposit: amount, cash or card hold, and when it is returned.
- Which stops are promised besides Macao beach? Is lunch included?
- What should we wear on our feet?
What to avoid
Do not book the last hour of daylight for a first drive. Do not wear a loose scarf or hold a phone on the track. Do not swim because the group is swimming if the shore break looks heavier than the hotel beach you used yesterday. Do not buy the photo package with a nod; ask the price first.
This page does not charge a card. There is no confirmed amount to charge.
