Cap Cana and Juanillo: what to settle before you go

Outing

Updated 22 September 2026. Written by TripTap for this site.

Cap Cana is south of the airport, and Juanillo is the beach people mean. Access is not the same as a public Bávaro sidewalk. What to ask before you book a table, a taxi, or a day.

What you are trying to do

Cap Cana is the resort area south of PUJ, not a neighborhood of Bávaro. Juanillo is the beach attached to that area in ordinary speech. A day “to Cap Cana” can mean a hotel that is already there, a restaurant, a marina, or an attempt to visit the beach as an outsider. Those are four different permissions.

TripTap does not control the gates and we do not publish a pass. If you are staying inside Cap Cana, your hotel is the authority on how you get back through the entrance. If you are staying in Bávaro and trying to visit, the place you want to enter has to say yes before you hire a taxi.

Transfer and time

From PUJ, Cap Cana is the short side. From northern Bávaro or Uvero Alto it is a cross-airport ride, longer than a hop between two Bávaro hotels. We are not printing minutes. Ask the taxi for the fare to the specific place, not to “Cap Cana,” and ask whether the driver can reach the door or only an outer gate.

If a restaurant or beach club told you to arrive at a time, leave a margin for the gate. Ask them what name the car must give. Ask whether outside guests are accepted on that date, and whether a reservation is the same thing as beach access. A table is not automatically a towel on Juanillo.

What not to pay for yet

Do not buy a “Cap Cana beach tour” from a Bávaro lobby until the seller names the entrance rule in writing. Do not pay a driver a beach price that is only the fare to the gate plus a shrug. Do not assume your all-inclusive plan includes a sister property in the other zone. Some hotel groups run a shuttle between their own buildings. That is their rule, on their brands. Ask your front desk.

There is no TripTap ticket price for Juanillo on this page. If a seller quotes one, ask what it buys: transport, a chair, a lunch, or a sales presentation.

Send this before you go

Send this to the place you want to enter, and to hola@triptaplatam.com if you want help reading the answer.

  • We are staying at ____ (hotel and zone), not inside Cap Cana / we are staying inside Cap Cana.
  • We want to visit ____ on this date: ____
  • Are outside guests allowed that day? Is a reservation required?
  • Where does a taxi stop, and what name do we give at the gate?
  • What is included if there is a fee: chair, lunch, or entry only?
  • What time should we arrive, and what time do we have to leave?

What to avoid

Do not promise a group you will “just go to Juanillo” the way you walk off a Bávaro sidewalk. Do not book a buggy or a Saona pickup that claims to collect inside Cap Cana until your hotel says that pickup is allowed at your building. Do not set a flight the same afternoon as a Cap Cana lunch if you still have to cross back to the airport in traffic you have not timed.
